Rhythm & Blues Brunch with Bettye LaVette - A Benefit for Payomet

Sunday, July 14 at 11:00am

"Bettye is one of the most incredible R&B singers singing today." -Bonnie Raitt

"Is there any soul singer who brings more guts, more conviction and more emotion to her singing?" -NPR

Join us for our 'Rhythm & Blues Brunch' featuring R&B legend Bettye LaVette at the tent on Sunday, July 14th to benefit Payomet Performing Arts Center. This is Payomet’s Major fundraiser and with a performance by Bettye, it’s going to be THE event of the summer. Enjoy delicious food & drink, an intimate concert, and a meet & greet with Bettye - all while showing your support for Payomet!

Five time Grammy nominee Bettye LaVette's been on the scene since her teenage years and her talent and spirit have been awarded with dozens accolades. Her career skyrocketed after her legendary performance at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2008 when she injected raw passion and intense vocals into The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me" (listen below). We are so lucky she'll be joining us in the tent on Sunday, July 14 for this special performance to benefit Payomet!

Bettye is no mere singer. She is not a song writer, nor is she a "cover" artist. She is an interpreter of the highest order. Bettye is one of very few of her contemporaries who were recording during the birth of soul music in the 60s and is still creating vital recordings today. Her latest 2018 release, "Things Have Changed", won her 2 Grammy nominations. To quote the late, great George Jones: "Bettye is truly a 'singer's singer'."
