Starting with a 1 hour puppet build, this can be building a simple sock, bag, or rod puppet with provided materials, OR if people have their own puppets and need help to brainstorm, they may use this time for that as well. This first half is optional if you already have a puppet. The second half of class is a 1 hour puppet jam: Using a playboard and puppet stage, participants can play with and devise for their puppets using music, stories, and other fun techniques, while keeping in mind the question, why puppet? Cost includes materials.

AUBREY CLINEDINST-

Aubrey Clinedinst is a professional clown and puppeteer from the New York City area. Aubrey began clowning around at an early age, but she began to pursue it professionally with Commedia dell'Arte studies in Italy. After getting her B.A. in theatre with a concentration in performance and costume design from Goucher College, Aubrey channeled these two passions into the study of puppetry, going on to attend the O'Neill National Puppetry Conference twice. She also performed as both a clown and puppeteer for the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre and LaMaMa Kids. Wanting to develop this love of clown and puppetry further, she returned to Italy to get her M.F.A. in Physical Theatre from the Accademia dell'Arte. Here, Aubrey deepened her study of Commedia, red-nose clown, bouffon, and LeCoq, while also getting the chance to attend circus school where she focused on juggling. Aubrey has now returned to the New York clown and puppet scene. She is excited to work with the next generation of clowns and circus professionals.
